Help! I don’t feel normal ?

So I’m turning 14 next week and I don’t like my body reasons are 1: I have small boobs, eveyone says either “everyone’s different”or “you will get them on day” but I just want them because I feel like it would make me more feminine and appear more my age. And all my friends have boobs, I just feel like I still look I’m 12 or even a boy! 2: I’m short, yes there are people shorter than me but I still feel like I look like I’m 12 idk I just want to be more pretty and look more my age, maybe people will like me more ?

Our teenage years are tricky as we are learning about ourselves, making new friends & growing up, it’s also a time of major transformation. You’re doing a great job, don’t worry!

It’s also normal to sometimes feel different, and have negative thoughts, but know that you’re never alone! One of the key signs of going through puberty is experiencing emotional changes, which is why we feel extra sensitive sometimes. Make sure you’re surrounding yourself with positive people in your life, your friends should make you laugh, feel included & valued.
Yes, although most will tell you that ‘everyone is different’ it’s 100% true & unfortunately there isn’t much we can do about it, besides embracing our differences because everyone will love you for YOU.

If it’s really worrying you or making you feel upset, perhaps try and speak to your friends about how you’re feeling? Or a parent or teacher?
Puberty can last between 2 – 5 years & these changes can take time to get used to, and can be completely daunting at first, but it’s a part of growing up, and every girl goes through it.

You’re still growing & changing, so it’s important to appreciate the transformations your body is going through & although sometimes it can seem hard, confusing or just completely daunting, learn to love the skin your in & who you are! Try not to be to hard on yourself, you are perfect the way you are!

When you’re feeling upset or anxious, it’s important to take a breath & talk it out. It’s normal to go through a rough patch, but remember there’s always help available! There’s some great organisations like Lifeline (13 11 14) & Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636). They’re amazing listeners & have so much information to help you. xx
