I need help about tampons!

Hi, so I’m 12 years old and I got my first period a year ago and I have had 14 periods so far. I’ve always used pads but I’ve thought about using tampons a couple times however I never got around to actually buying them because I thought it would hurt. I do HPE in school and I have a lifeguard assessment coming up in 2 days and last night I tried using the libra girl tampons and it went in a bit but the ends were sticking out so I tried pushing it in further and it just wouldn’t go in anymore. My mum told me to try again today but I feel like the same things going to happen! Please HELP!

    Hey Lucy!

Tampons can be a little tricky at first but like all things, practice makes perfect!

The Libra Girl Tampons are a great place to start while you’re still learning & it sounds like you’ve almost got the hang of it.

On your next attempt, try taking some deep breaths to relax your body & mind, angle your tampon at 45 degrees (not directly upwards!) and push gently towards your tail bone. Push to the full length of the finger that you’re using to insert your tampon with. Or push until you can no longer feel it! 🙌🏼

You wrote a blog on how to use tampons! You can read more about it HERE.

If anyone has any more tips, drop them below. 👇🏼

    Love Gem x

      Thank you Gemmah!

After a couple attempts I got it in, passed my assessment and I now where them more often in public and are much easier to insert and take out! 🙂
