Why does puberty exist!!??? 11-12+ Only (Sorry!)

So since I turned 11 (January), my hormones have been taking control of my mind and body and it’s driving me crazy! Like, I’m having VERY LARGE mood swings, my boobs hurt like ACTUAL HELL, I’m getting vaginal discharge every minute (tmi lol), I’m SOOOOOOOOO close to getting my first period, I am feeling insecure about my body, and overall…. I’m a pubic hormonal mess! I’m also thinking about boys A LOT MORE. I really want to have my first kiss! I also have been bonding with my friends and family a lot more (mainly my older sister). What is the meaning of all of this?! My bff even agrees (we’ in year 5 but she’s a year younger than me)! Does anyone know how to deal with puberty? I hope to hear something soon!

Hey Sophie, Puberty normally begins between the ages of 9 & 14, & last for 2 to 5 years. Everyone is unique & the rate at which we grow can vary greatly from person to person.
Unfortunately we can’t control puberty, it is just a fact of nature & will take it’s place when it’s ready.
Everything you are feeling & experiencing is TOTALLY normal & happens to every girl out there. The best thing to do is not stress about it, because there is nothing you can do to stop it.
You’re doing the right thing by speaking to your friend about it, keep that up! Even try chatting to your older sister too, because she’s gone through the exact same thing remember.
Keep up the great work, and don’t be hard on yourself. It’s all normal.

Omg, thank you so much Gemmah! I talked to my sister and she said the same thing that you said; it’s normal. I know that I can count on you to help not just me, but TONS of other girls!

      Thank you,

It’s hard yeah, but it’s a step further to adolescences isn’t it? Puberty may seem gross (trust me I know) but there are rewards afterward. Maybe wear liners if you are having vaginal discharge, that’s what I did anyway. Bras are also a huge help. Hope this helps! Xx

I was 10 in year five (like your friend) and now I’m 12 in in year 7. I got my period last year, when I was 11 and it only lasted for a few hours. Then I didn’t get it back until a few days before my birthday, and at first, I thought it was diarrhoea, then it stopped, until September. The next month I had a really long one. Periods can be irregular, but it’s just your body settling into a cycle for you. Puberty is just your body growing into a teenager and then an adult.

I’m so happy that i’m not the only one with so much vaginal discharge! I love going on Libra, it’s the only place I can really relate with everyone and the #girlytingz ! It is hard, especially when I have a brother in the same room as me when I take my smelly undies to the wash! 🙁 Your so relate able, I wish you the best of luck with getting used to all the changes we are having. GIRLY TINGZ!!:)
