Ask Gemmah – FAQs

Q: How do I ease my period cramps?

A: Oh no, not the cramps! When it comes to easing period pain, everybody’s different, but we personally love a hot water bottle, tea and keeping our mind distracted. We wrote a blog all about our top 5 remedies, check it out! If you are experiencing severe pain at that time of the month, we recommend chatting to your doctor about it, as there may be something else going on.

Q: I want to start using tampons, but I’m scared about inserting them! Help!

A: Tampons can be tricky at first, but once you get the hang of them, they’re a great way to manage your period! We wrote a blog post all about How To Use Tampons, including a few of our favourite tips for easy insertion. Feel free to give it a read! If you forget the steps when the time comes to pop one in, don’t worry! Every tampon box comes with a little leaflet containing instructions.

Q: What are irregular periods?

A: Irregular periods are when your flow doesn’t match the 28 day cycle. They’re totally normal and can be caused by a number of things, including your hormones, contraception or stress. Using an app to track your period (we love Flo and Period Diary) can be helpful to monitor and predict your cycle. The best way to understand your unique flow is to talk it over with your GP.
