Life Moving Too Fast!

Hey Gemmah

So I turn 13 3 months ago now and I really don’t want to get older sometimes I will cry for ages wish I was 8 again when life was great I would play outside, draw picture and watch tv and eat tiny teddy now I will sit and think next year I’m 14 and then 15, 16 and driving a car and so it feels like this year is going to quickly and it’s making me feel worst is it just going to get quicker? I feel like next thing I know I’m going to be taking my last breath, I’ve tried to stop worry and overthinking but I can’t it like when I was 8 and each day would feel like it would go on forever but now by the time I’ve gotten up got dress and eaten breakfast it’s already 10 and before I know I’m going back to bed! Please help I want to stop overthinking and just enjoy life but these very thoughts keep coming back to me!

( Ps.. Sorry for such a long write up)

Oh girl, growing up can seem scary, but there’s no reason to fear it!

There are so many changes that can happen in life, but the one thing you can always count on is that time will stay the same. Sometimes it can feel like time is moving super quickly, especially when we’re really busy, but it’s moving at the same pace it always has. The important thing is to cherish each moment! Focusing too much on the past or worrying about the future may mean you miss out on exciting things happening in the present!

You have so many amazing life adventures to look forward to, such as falling in love, meeting incredible people, travelling the world & so many celebrations! Plus driving is awesome! It means you can explore & be more independent. Just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean you can’t do the things that used to bring you joy. You can still draw, spend time outdoors & eat Tiny Teddys! These things don’t have an age restriction.

Talking out your worries with friends or family is a great way to clear your mind & get back to loving life. It’s normal to go through a rough patch, but remember there’s always help available! There’s some great organisations like Lifeline (13 11 14) & Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636). They’re amazing listeners & have so much information to help you.
