Hi Guys. How do we get our periods (what causes it?)? And what is that white stuff? And is the white gooey stuff a sign you’re gonna get your period cause I still get the white stuff?
Periods happen as a result of going through puberty due to hormone changes! Each month, one of your two ovaries will release an egg. This egg may become fertilised by a sperm if you’ve had sexual intercourse, & eventually develops into a baby. However, more often than not, the egg won’t be fertilised so after a couple of days, it breaks down along with the lining of the uterus & is released by the body through the vagina. This is your period. Read more about what causes a period HERE.
And that ‘white gooey stuff’? That’s just some discharge! It’s totally normal & actually your body’s way of keeping your downstairs healthy. Learn more about discharge HERE. 🍃 You may start to see some discharge about a year or two before you get your first period. So keep an eye on it because if it starts to turn dark or brown in colour, that means your period is super close.
Puberty can be a bit of a rollercoaster, but you’re not alone! Let me know if you’ve got any other questions about periods, puberty or life. 💕
