Karlee

Diagnosed at 22

Ever since my first period at 12 years old. I’ve had excruciating pain, was really irregular and I always had dull aches before and after my period. I tried to go on multiple pills to help with the pain and to regulate them, nothing seemed to help I would always spot and get pain. After trying almost every pill my doctor could think of they recommended I see a gynaecologist, who said my symptoms sounded very much like endometriosis but they wouldn’t know unless they operate.

After so many years not knowing what was wrong with me, I went ahead with the surgery.

I was then diagnosed with endometriosis. I did so much research going into the surgery and it was my first ever operation. Endometriosis is an unspoken condition. I think more people should be more aware of this, it’s hard to live with especially on the bad days you don’t want to get out of bed with the pain. Women are so strong to push through every day and just live their lives.
