Sarah B's Story

My Story

I started suffering from extreme period pain from about 14, I have constant pain before during and after my period and they would come every 20 days. When my periods would start my days consisted of extremely heavy periods full of clots, fainting, vomiting and nausea from the pain on top of multiple days off school/work because I was unable to get out of bed. When I spoke to my GP and explained that endometriosis an in my family they just put me on the pill and it never got looked into despite the fact that I had no relief.

It was only last year at 24 when I was rushed to hospital with unbearable pain that it was found that I had a leaking 7cm cyst on my ovary that an emergency laparoscopy was done and I was diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis. Unfortunately due to the spread of fibroids surrounding my uterus they were unable to remove them all so I still have severe pain and will be due for another laparoscopy to try and minimise the pain.
